Dress Code

The dress code provides a standard for our students, which fosters an environment conducive to learning and respectful behavior.   Final decisions regarding the school uniform rest with the principal/administration.

Uniform Requirements & Other Pertinent Information

 Dress code will be strictly adhered to.  Children who are not in proper uniform will be required to go home and change. 
Flynn and O’Hara Uniforms, Inc. are the official vendors for Holy Family School uniforms, required to be worn by all students in K-8.  Flynn and O’Hara can be contacted at 703-503-5966 or on the web at http://www.flynnohara.com/ . Please do not mix and match the colors of the different uniforms, students should look clean and consistent at all times.  All Clothing is to be labeled by the parent with the child’s full name.  Lost articles are kept in the school office and are discarded quarterly or given to the used uniform bin.


BOYS – GRADES K-5
Shirts White polo shirt with Holy Family Logo
Pants Navy Blue, Navy Blue shorts (April-October only, optional)
Shoes Black/Brown shoes with rubber soles. 
(Boots and sandals are not permitted.)
Socks Crew Style (Ankle socks are never permitted.)
Belt Black/Brown
Sweater Cardinal V-Neck Cardigan with Holy Family Logo. 
(Sweater is optional, sweater must have the Holy Family Logo.)

BOYS – MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES 6, 7, AND 8
Shirts Oxford, long sleeve white dress shirt with Holy Family School tie.  White polo shirt with Holy Family Logo (Optional from April-October only.)
Pants Navy Blue, Navy Blue shorts (April-October only, optional)
Shoes Black/Brown shoes with rubber soles. 
(Boots and sandals are not permitted.)

 Navy Plaid pattern supplied by Flynn and O'Hara (shorts permitted under jumper).  Jumpers are expected to be at or below the knee at all times.

 Navy Blue Shorts (April- October only, optional)

Shoes
 Black/Brown with rubber soles, heels, less than 1 inch.  (Clogs, sandals, boots, and plastic shoes are not permitted.  Please check with the office before wearing shoes that might be against policy.)

 Box Pleat, navy plaid supplied by Flynn/O’Hara.  Skirts are expected to be at or below the knee at all times.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM FOR ALL GRADES 
Shirt Navy Blue or Ash Grey with Holy Family Logo worn only in April through October
Shorts Navy Blue or Ash Grey Shorts worn only in April through October
Shoes Tennis/Athletic sneaker.  (Wheel conversion shoes or shoes with any kind of wheels is not permitted at any time.)
Sweats Mandatory from November through March.  Sweatshirt and Sweatpants in Navy Blue or Ash Grey with the Holy Family Logo on the shirt, are the only type of athletic gear allowed. 
Socks White gym socks. (Ankle socks are not permitted.)

  Hair and General Appearance
 
All students should have well groomed hair at all times. Colored or treated hair with dye (to include temporary stains) is not acceptable for boys or girls.  Boys’ hair must be no longer than collar length.  Hair tails are not permitted on boys.  Girls should wear their hair with respect to dignity and grace.  When in doubt of compliancy with school policy regarding hair, please check with administration.
 
Ostentatious jewelry is not permitted.  A religious medal or crucifix may be worn under a shirt or blouse.  Girls may wear post earrings only.  Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.  Cosmetics, to include all types of nail polish, are not permitted.  Tattoos, skin stamps, and pierced body parts (with the exception of female students’ ears) are not permitted.
